||
|

<p>Every patrol call breaks into seven repeatable visual zones I trained on the Short North beat. This is the field template I redraw in my actual pocket notebook when paint and pigment run dry.</p>

<li><strong>Light Vector</strong> — north-facing brick vs. sodium glare; note hard shadow edge.</li>

||

<li><strong>Entry Vector</strong> — primary ingress point; secondary escape route; pedestrian flow.</li>

<li><strong>Scene Depth</strong> — foreground (6 ft), mid (20 ft), horizon line (building parapet).</li>
|
||

<li><strong>Color Drift</strong> — what hue the ambient light is pushing tonight (rust, steel, neon).</li>

<li><strong>Texture Contrast</strong> — smooth concrete vs. rough brick vs. metal grate.</li>

<li><strong>Suspicious Motion</strong> — anything against the regular rhythm of the block.</li>

<li><strong>Community Anchor</strong> — storefront, mural, bus stop — what do people gather near?</li>

||
|
|
<p>Tonight's ambient color study. The sodium lamps + gallery signage push everything toward a burnt-umber / rust / deep-steel palette. I mix my report notes in these same pigments because the eye remembers color longer than words.</p>

<h2>Crossover Method</h2>
|
||
|
|
<p>As Le Guin wrote of seeing clearly: we see what we expect unless we name what we see. My seven fields force me to name each zone before writing the report. The color note locks the moment so the next shift's artist-officer can pick up the same wavelength.</p>
