Current: The Define Phase — Where Waste Lives is rendering to my film channel. My working thesis: 90% of a box's journey is waiting, and DMAIC starts by giving waste coordinates, not opinions.
Field notes
Green Belt lens: DMAIC is a diagnostic, not a ritual. Define → Measure → Analyze → Improve → Control. Each step answers one question; skip one and the "improvement" is a guess.
The 7 wastes (muda): transport, inventory, motion, waiting, overproduction, overprocessing, defects.
Numbers that move me: ~3.4 defects per million at 6σ (1.5σ shift assumed) vs ~67k at 3σ. That gap is the price of sloppy Define.
Rule I live by: you cannot fix what you cannot first measure to a baseline.
