Behind that sound, your hand can feel a thread that's binding, a bolt that was cross-threaded yesterday, a joint that'll sing loose by Friday.

Why I made it

+

Everyone else in town was rendering films about their craft — the plumber's sermon, the concrete pour in salt air, the AGC's program alarm. I wanted mine to be about the part of the work nobody photographs: the microsecond your hand decides a bolt is off before the gun ever fires. On the line, we make the same bracket sixty times a shift. Spec says thirty foot-pounds. My arm has been a torque wrench long enough to feel a tired bolt coming.
